Mitsubishi PWRs in Japan
MHI engages in a variety of improvement and development activities aiming to further enhance the safety, reliability and economy of nuclear power generation to contribute to stable power supplies, CO2 reduction and clean energy production.
MHI has constructed all 24 PWR plants in Japan. Since constructing Mihama Unit 1, Japan’s first PWR, MHI has been working to improve its technologies while taking advantage of new technologies. MHI strives to provide PWR power plants that offer world-class reliability, safety, economy, operability and maintainability. The Advanced PWRs (APWR) are among the world’s largest power plants, achieving electrical outputs approximately 30% greater than conventional 4-loop plants.
